World's first Woman
Magicians' Convention: Maya 2010
Thiruvananthapuram: To mark its 14th anniversary, the Magic
Academy is organising the world's first woman magicians'
convention on 30th May 2010 in Thiruvananthapuram. Christened,
'Maya 2010', the convention will offer memorable day showcasing
the female prowess of the country in the art of magic. Though
male magicians can register as delegates for the event,
significant part of the event is exclusively reserved for lady
magicians. For examples no group registration of 2 or more
members is possible unless the request is signed by a female
leader. No magic dealer can demonstrate the working of their
props on the stage if they do not have a female magician for
undertaking the job. Also the competitions - the major item of
the event - are reserved solely for woman magicians.
Besides regular competitions for seniors and juniors in stage
and close-up sections of magic, there will be an interesting
section titled, Kitchen Magic introduced for the first time. In
Kitchen Magic competitions, participants are expected to use a
range of household utensils and vegetables instead of common
gadgets of magic. More over the performer should be in
traditional housewife dress than magician's costumes. All
competitions are however restricted to a maximum of 8 minutes.
Registration form and terms and conditions can be downloaded
