Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned magician Gopinath Muthukad’s Different Art Centre (DAC) in Thiruvananthapuram has drawn the interest of Sikkim’s government. Sikkim Health Minister G.T. Dhungel recently expressed his intent to establish a similar institution in the state, inspired by the center’s transformative approach to inclusivity and empowerment.

During Muthukad’s two-month Inclusive India Tour, which highlights the role of art in fostering social development, Minister Dhungel commended the DAC’s innovative model. The minister announced plans to visit Thiruvananthapuram soon to explore the DAC in person, emphasizing the potential for replicating its success in Sikkim.

Magic as a Tool for Social Change

The Different Art Centre is a groundbreaking initiative where magic and art are used as mediums to empower individuals with disabilities. The center offers a platform for these individuals to showcase their talents while promoting inclusivity and social integration. Minister Dhungel praised Gopinath Muthukad’s efforts in utilizing magic for social reform and recognized his contribution to advancing opportunities for people with disabilities. He highlighted that such initiatives serve as a benchmark for states aiming to enhance societal inclusion and innovation.

Future Prospects in Sikkim

The proposal to establish a DAC in Sikkim aligns with the state’s focus on promoting inclusive development. Minister Dhungel believes that introducing such a center would inspire local talent and provide a nurturing space for individuals with disabilities to thrive.
